This vintage linen picture post card features the neo-classical edifice of the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Massachusetts. The attractive exterior of this hospital building is enhanced by a portico and rooftop cupola.
The hospital was founded in 1938 thanks to a bequest from the estate of Alice Tobey Jones. The pictured structure was opened in 1940. Wareham, MA (named after a town in Dorset, England) is located in Plymouth County, 55 miles from Boston.
This circa 1940s era postally-unused card was published by the New Bedford News Co. and is numbered 47274. This vintage linen post card is in clean, excellent condition with strong, bright colours. It is in such a near-pristine state as it is "new", old store stock (NOS a/k/a deadstock).
This piece of New England ephemera / memorabilia is eminently suitable for framing or for inclusion in an album.
