This is a genuine original fruit crate label. This colourful, unused, circa 1940s label for the Ivanhoe brand of "Fancy California Fruits" features an illustrated representation of the heroic, medieval knight from the novel by Sir Walter Scott. This "Produce of U.S.A." label was printed for the Ivanhoe Fruit Association, Ivanhoe, California.
This vintage label measures 10 1/2" x 3 7/8" (approx.). This old product label is in very good, unused condition (i.e. there is a 2" dia. die-cut hole where a distributor's logo was removed) and is eminently suitable for framing. The colours are strong and vibrant with great period graphics.
Vintage food labels are great additions to advertising and ephemera collections. This one is of particular interest to collectors of chivalry or Crusades-related memorabilia. They make ideal "wall art" when framed for display in a study, office, or even the kitchen for a retro diner look.
