This is a complete issue of "The American Weekly", published by the Hearst Publishing Company, Incorporated as an insert to Los Angeles Examiner of the same date, 12 April 1952. Among the articles and subjects addressed in this issue was the "Baseball Forecast for 1952", with twenty-two experts predicting a World Series between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Giants. So much for the experts, the teams and results were the New York Yankees beating the Brooklyn Dodgers 4 to 3 in nine innings. There is also an interesting article introducing Mrs. Estes Kefauver, the wife of Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee to the readers. This newspaper magazine is done in beautiful color for the most part, including period advertising and some of the articles. "The American Weekly" will appeal to everyone with an interest in the history of the mid-century period, and would also be a great resource for anyone involved in the movie or live theater, for ensuring that the period dress was accurate, as well as ensuring that props were also timely.
This magazine is in good condition. there is age-related yellowing and brittling of the paper, and minimal shelf wear. I found no marks or entries made by the previous owner. It is approximately 15 1/2" in height and 11" in width, and there are 27 numbered pages.
