This 'Consumers Union Buying Guide' is a confidential buying guide from 1938 detailing the best buys in food, toilet goods, drugs and medical, clothing, household, and automobiles, with special notes of which items are not acceptable to buy.
This was the CU's second annual guide, with ratings for more than 2,000 products. Included also were condensed versions of many articles published in the 'CU Reports' publication concerning testing of these products. Prices for many of the products are included -- an interesting feature for those who want to learn more about the history of consumer product sales.
For example, the highest rated products (Best Buys) and prices for a selection of categories: Milk of Magnesia Toothpaste 10 cents a tube; Gordon's Rum $1.66 a fifth; Rinso laundry detergent 24 cents per pound; and many more! Auto recommendations and used-car prices are here, as are cigars, men's suits, mattresses, coffee and more!
The neat little softcover book is in Good condition, with some discoloration from aged paper inside and light cover creases. Still, it's fascinating to read!
