VERY Unique Picture Frame Coat hanger. This is by far one of the more interesting picks I've ever come across. The lady's name in the picture is Hattie Gilson McCormick and there seems to be a family tree diagram below her name, as shown on the back, with a date of 1894 (see pics). I cannot be sure that the actual coat hanger itself is that old, but the photo appears to be.
Hattie seems to be holding something that looks like a large razor so it was possible used in a barber shop? The item she is holding could also be a small (ball pin) hammer? Also on the back written on the wood in pen is the name Peggy Arin, but it's hard to see. Obviously this piece meant a lot to some family at one time.
At any rate, this is wonderful historical Western Decor and an interesting conversation piece.
Measures 11" across by 8" tall and 5" deep. It looks like the center hook was removed likely because it was blocking the picture. The middle peg could still hold a shirt or coat.
Thanks for looking and please convo me with any questions. I have a lot of questions myself about this wonderful old bit of history!
