This is a stunning ART DECO brooch with the most interesting of cut glass.. The aquamarine color glass is in an emerald shape ~ but ~ and it was very hard to capture ~ the glass is cut into the center at an angle in another emerald cut shape.... The glass is also faceted so this gives off shimmer that is very different from just faceted glass.. It is a truly unique cut that I must admit I have never seen before..This glass is bezel set ~ open backed ~ un-foiled.
The sides are stepped and in the classic geometric Art Deco design.. A pot metal is the foundation..The sides are a mix of the same color glass cabochons ~ I did not use the term "rhinestone" as they look more like smooth domed glass cabochons then faceted rhinestones..
The brooch does need a cleaning which I do not want to do..There are also rows of metal cabochons (not marcasite)..
The color is very intense and absolutely brilliant. Against the darkened patina of the pot metal ~ this brooch has a very aged rich look.
It is unsigned but a high quality weighty brooch..
