Large Antique Maddocks Lamberton Ceramic Jardinere 1890s

LISTED ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2023 - VIEWED 243 TIMES
Jardinere from Maddocks Lamberton Works. The Maddock Pottery Company, also known as Lamberton Works, was located in the city of Trenton, New Jersey 1. The factory was in operation from 1892 to 1923 and produced a variety of porcelain and china wares such as garden hotel china, tableware, toilet sets, dinner sets, jardinieres, tabourets, umbrella stands, etc. This piece was made in the late 19th century, most likely in the 1890s. It is amazing that this piece even exists, as Victorian porcelains fell out of favor with the Art Deco craze of the 1920s. There are no cracks or chips on the piece, but it does have signs of wear. The gilt gold that circled the top and bottom has faded quite a bit. Also the floral pattern that encircles the panels that flank the middle has wearing as well. It is still visible and quite lovely. The bottom of the inside has staining, most likely from an actual plant being planted inside. Still a stunning piece of history. It is a quite large jardinere, measuring 14" at widest point on body x 12" tall. The opening of jardinere is 11". It is stamped Maddocks Lamerton Works Real Porcelain on bottom. A truly great antique!
