This is a great old set of vintage 4" Fort Pitt Salt and Pepper Shakers advertising Fort Pitt beer in amber-colored / brown bottles. These have never been used and the set is considered new, old stock; they remain in their original cardboard box but it is falling apart! These salt and peppers are extremely rare in this 4" size!
It is rare to find such a nice set -- especially the taller 4" size with the foil and paper label remaining vibrantly bright and without damage! Labels remain solidly attached. Each states: Fort Pitt Special Beer, Fort Pitt Brewing Co., Pittsburgh 15, PA. The bottle cap lids are silver and also remain tightly attached. One bottle has 9 small holes and the other has 7 (slightly larger) holes. These pieces are clean and have been safely stored in the box for many years. The underside or base of each bottle is marked: MUTH A ND BUFFALO.
I believe they date back to the 1940s since that is when the US Postal Service implemented postal zones for large cities.
Each piece measures 4" in height and 1-1/8" across the base. The red, white and black box remains in good condition. It remains vibrantly colored with all flaps attached but there is a split on the front right-hand corner.
