This was a very nice find; Francois Villon Student, Poet, and Housebreaker by Robert Louis Stevenson. Published by Thomas B. Mosher,, Portland Maine:, 1911. This is one of just 425 copies of this book (Fourth Edition) printed in Japan Vellum in the month of December A.D. MDCCCCXI, at the press of Thomas B. Mosher.
There are 73 pages and all are uncut. This book is over 100 years old. It isn't unusual to find old books with uncut pages but all of these pages are that way. The book measures approximately 5-1/4" by 3-1/2" and is in very good plus condition. It is what is called heavy card stock, sturdier than a paperback book.
French poet François Villon was born in 1431 in Paris, France. He was a trained scholar, but lived a life of criminal activity, involving theft and robbery. He once killed a priest during a brawl. In 1462, he was sentenced to death. The sentence was changed to banishment and he was never heard from again. His work, published posthumously, is noted for its poetic depth and rhyme.
A plus is having the cardboard slipcase, with original glassine wrap. The most favorite Books by Robert Louis Stevenson are probably Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. But, there are many other great works as well by him. His Birthday is November 13th he was born in 1850, in Edinburgh, Scotland and he died in Samoa in 1894.
