Being offered for your consideration is this Contemporary Expressionist Painting On Christianity. I purchased this at an Auction and the only information given was that the Artist had been a teacher at The University of Pittsburgh. The best I can do with the signature is it looks to me like "Pitsnell". The frame measures 39" by 27" and both painting and frame are in good condition.
The figure seems to represent Jesus and in the top right hand corner is a cross. The bottom right brings to mind, the temple being destroyed. King James Bible: Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Jesus spoke of his body, they thought he spoke of the temple.
The artist put so much in this work. From the top down I see sky, ocean, sand and of course the cross. Jesus appears to be carrying a book. There is the temple on the botom right and on the left red paint. King James Bible: "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins". The eyes, are other worldly showing light and depth.
