This vintage piece of sheet music is called "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!!" and was written by Frank Loesser. It was published by Famous Music Corp. in 1942. The art work shows a battle scene with airplanes overhead. The song commemorates an event during the Pearl Harbor attack. Chaplain William Maguire left his altar and took over a gun station (where a gunner had been killed). Amid the chaos, the Chaplain yelled out, "I just got one of them !! Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!!" Hence the song was written by Frank Loesser who donated all the royalties to the Navy Relief Society. A great piece of sheet music to frame or to add to your collection of military sheet music or Frank Loesser melodies!
