Cute mid-century German boy carrying a backpack figurine. Hummel and Evans style child wearing brown shorts, a blue jacket, and traditional heritage hat Heavy molded plastic, nicely handpainted. 3 5/16" h x 1 3/4" l x 1 3/4" w. Vintage 1950s marked made in Macau. This figurine was most likely intended as a Christmas tree ornament. Post -WWII global economy recovery brought a desire for European style products made in Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau. These figurines as ornaments were extremely popular in 1958-1960 but the plastic eyes they used for ornament hooks did not hold up to time and use. That leaves this guy just as cute as can be as a figurine. His hat has some wear that reveals his age and use but for the most part, his paint has held.
